Netcool/OMNIbus OSLC Service Provider

Technical Blog Post

Abstract

Netcool/OMNIbus OSLC Service Provider

Body

Courtesy of my colleague Chris Appleton in Netcool/OMNIbus development, there is a new video on how they designed their own OSLC Service Provider for their upcoming 7.4 FP3 release. All standard disclaimers apply about release contents not being final until formally announced, but the work is already subject to external try-outs in the Jazz for Service Management hosted beta.

This video was primarily created for systems integrators who already extend Netcool/OMNIbus and want to expand that integration to enable collaboration with other OSLC providers. A great example of this collaboration was recently showcased in the trouble-ticket troubleshooting scenario a few weeks ago, with a Smart Cloud Control Desk operator using Netcool/OMNIbus event information to better understand what was happening to a slow system reported by an end-user.

.

This new video goes much deeper on the Netcool/OMNIbus side, with a complete walkthrough of what is available and of how a systems administrator would configure Netcool/OMNIbus to interface with Registry Services in Jazz for Service Management in an actual environment.
