JazzSM 188.8.131.52 milestone 3 beta driver has just been released and I am really thrilled with the introduction of support for provider record templates, brain child of our ever keen Joe Ross.
Provider record templates are a mechanism for OSLC service providers to inform Registry Services about what their records should look like without ever sending them to Registry Services. This is an ideal arrangement for service providers which have considerable amounts of data about several resources, to a point where it would be impractical to send that volume of data across the network in off-chance they may be necessary when another application pulls out the corresponding resource record from Registry Services.
Netcool/OMNIbus (I will just keep referring to it as OMINbus, for short) is a fitting example of such data providers, managing a large volume of event data for resources in the environment, which are essential in troubleshooting a resource under investigation in SCCD. Taking full advantage of OSLC integration capabilities, SCCD can locate the OMNIbus OSLC provider in Registry Services and, for each configuration item (ITIL speak for a Registry Services resource) inspected in the SCCD user interface, use Registry Services to find the OMNIbus link to the respective event data still stored in OMNIbus.

An image is worth a thousand words, and a video is worth thousands of images (literally, if you count all frames carefully) , so that we created a 12-minute video of the entire integration scenario in action to reaffirm the power of OSLC integrations and how SCCD and any other OSLC-compliant user interface can now benefit from event data from OMNIbus without further modifications.
For those interested on a deeper introduction to the end-user aspects of the integration, without the undelying OSLC mechanics, you can download a PDF with a walkthrough of all new panels and actions.
