Dashboarding made simple: create custom content in DASH

Are you creating Dashboards using JAZZ SM UI service and you need to display your custom content on a dashboard? Content Box is for you to look at.  

Based on feedback at Pulse 2013, Dashboard Application Services Hub (DASH) now has a new feature  that  provides an extendible model supporting  inclusion of  any url addressable custom content as widgets in DASH and the same can be  added to the custom dashboards.

The custom content can be written in any web based technology and  needs to be URL addressable. You can set title, help and skin for the custom content just like for any other native DASH widgets.

You can go more creatinve and extend your  custom content to  participate in eventing that allows  interaction with other widgets on the dashboard, personalization supporting  saving and retrieving  preferences at dashboard and user level among others.

 We are incrementally adding more capabilities for this feature. Complete details on all the capabilities  available with JAZZ SM 1.1.0.1 can be found at the infocenter.

Here are some examples where Content Box can be very handy

- Custom static images, One can use Content Box to deploy static images that can be then displayed in dashboards  via image widget. Simple scenarios I have been using this is for includes uploading background images for custom  dashboards or logo on a custom dashboard

- Custom Content, This can be simple or complicated web based url addressable content. One example is a clock on a NOC dashboard. Below is a screenshot of sample dashboard that comes with DASH. Notice simple UI on the right hand upper corner displaying current dat and time . This was done as custom  UI in DASH via Content Box
