Megaman Legends 3, the third installment of Megaman Legends, was designed by Capcom. The game's main draw was that many of the character designs were supposedly picked by the fans. The fans were suppose to be chose different designs and they would show up in the game.
This was going pretty well, with many designs of Megaman and Roll being chosen clearly by the fans. However, Capcom decided that fan participation isn't enough and canceled the game, blaming the fans. This of course lead to an uproar that escalated into many fans tweeting back angerly.
And rightly so. If fans were meant to create the game, then shouldn't they be paid for it? It is nice to allow fans to participate in the design process, but I do not believe you should blame the fans for canceling the game itself.
Capcom has done many things right by fans, but this isn't one of them.
