The U.S. Online Retail Holiday Shopping Recap Report 2013 delivered by the IBM Digital Analytics Benchmark is very insightful for the commerce industry and in planning both from the infrastructure point of view and business strategy of channels & promotions.
There is an upcoming webinar which discusses the business strategy on February 12, 2014 where experts from Forrester and IBM will recap the data and help discover the trends that can help you prepare your omni-channel approach in the year ahead.
I am particularly keen in helping our customers to absorb this data as they plan for volumetric, workload mix and peak loads to allow there infrastructure to scale with the response times which delivers close to utopic shopping experience for customers. In the transaction summary, the average session length is less than 9 minutes with Page Views per session as about 8. The mobile users generate more traffic per conversion and as the mobile traffic continues to grow, the sites will have to be geared for more browsing sessions.
I believe all retailers should be doing a performance reflection for the holiday period and clearly identify the top 3 bottlenecks which hit their infrastructure. This will help prioritize on the time and effort priorities for this quarter.
