Many teams find it challenging to get a project started quickly, to get team members oriented, to set up and configure tools, and to take advantage of proven patternsof success to do their jobs. Many other teams are required to document their processes for compliance reasons, and show that they follow that process.
Jazz allows us to create a new process template or customize an exisiting process template in RRC, RTC & RQM.
Jazz tools (RRC,RTC & RQM) have pre-defined process templates which can be modified according to the project needs. Process template has different components such as Overview, Timelines, Roles, Permissions, Access Control, Configuration Data and Process Description. Each of these components can be customized according to your project needs.

I'm working on.........
I am Guru Prasad, working
for Tata Consultancy Services. I am working as Rational Product Specialist
& part of TCS Rational CoE team. I have conducted several internal
webinars, workshops on various Rational tools including Rational Software
Architect, Rational Requirement Composer, Rational Requisite Pro etc. I always
like to develop custom extensions for Rational tools. I
keep myself skilled & updated on rational trends I always focus on Self educating myself on
IBM Rational tools. Most of the time I spend browsing IBM Jazz.net, IBM
Developer Works & go through the latest releases of the tools, discussion
forums, articles on Rational tools. Also, I attend most of the webinars
conducted by IBM Rational User Group. I do write Rational articles & publish
them in the internal sites. I also assist my team on POC activities / publishing
white papers on Rational in External forums like IBM Developerworks, jazz.net
Since most of the Rational tools
are Eclipse based, Rational users can develop custom extensions easily using the
Eclipse Plugin development features. IBM provides REST APIs , Java APIs to
extend features of Jazz based tools. Users can connect to jazz.net, RUG forum
& discuss on the queries specific to such implementation. My accomplishments I am an active member of IBM Rational User
Group & IBM Certified Deployment Professional & Solution Designer. I
have developed several plugins for Rational tools on demand.
All you need is a jazz.net
id (registration is pretty simple) andwithin a matter of seconds I had the products
provisioned for me. I can go to each product on the web and see the functionality. Whats more is I can connect my RTC desktop clients to these images too !! Now thats what I call ease of use As mentioned on the sandbox home page, the 4.0 sandboxes are available until Dec. 31st
Now sitting in my office (or
home) I can access these products and see the new capabilities in action. Try it yourself !
America's skyscrapers, many built before World War Two, are showing their age. IBM's "building whisperer," Dave Bartlett, believes many of these buildings could use a diet.Bartlett,
who leads IBM's smarter building initiative, is known as the "building
whisperer" because he views buildings as living organisms, an approach
that can help identify problems and suggest cost-effective ways of
making buildings healthier and more energy-efficient. Read more..
A team of IBM top experts assigned to Nairobi today provided a cohesive framework and
roadmap to the city to improve the flow of road traffic and increase
revenues from the transportation sector. The recommendations complement Nairobi's considerable ongoing investment
in underlying roadway infrastructure. They include making traffic
information more readily available to citizens, motorists, police,
policymakers and planners so that better transportation decisions can be
made in the near and far term. Read more..
IBM says that several hospitals and clinics from Russia's rapidly
evolving regions outside of Moscow and St Petersburg are tying up with
it to modernise infrastructure and improve patient care.
a number of healthcare providers such as the Hospital of Murom Railway
Station, the Clinic of Novosibirsk Institute of Blood Circulation
Pathology in Siberia and the Emergency Hospital of Petrozavodsk have
asked it to provide new information management systems giving doctors
and medical staff rapid access to medical data and reducing waiting time
for patients. Read more...
RSA, a very user friendly tool which help people to model their project accordingly. UML modelling, which is very much required for understanding their very project in a practical manner, can be done by RSA.
After giving training on this tool i think i m very much trained in this tool.
How effective would it be if we let our customers tell us the features they want in a product we are planning to build, and let them prioritize these features and then we prioritize them against criteria that maximizes customer value and minimizes cost, build those features and make the product available to the market – resulting in maximum return on investment with a product our customers love!
Well, If the above appeals to you Rational Focal Point is your answer. From my experience with Focal Point over the last few years I have realised that this is one scenario which would be an eye catcher for many of us in this industry. I would definitely want to get you to know more about this tool. Let me introduce Focal Point to you more formally - its a unique management tool which automates, improves and supports product management and portfolio management. Be it something relatively simple as to what features would go into the product you build to making a more complex and important decision on which product to build, this tool come in very handy.
Making the right decision is always a challenge. We can make an adhoc and intuitive decision based on previous experiences or a more formal and a calculated one which is based on more critical business issues such as customer priority , market scenario etc.
Let me give you an example:
When we have two alternatives and one criteria, like which of the two between cars A and B is better in terms of mileage, its an easy comparison. But when we include more criteria to the list like which one has better mileage, comfort, speed, looks etc and then make a choice on the best alternative then it becomes a little complex. Imagine a situation where we need to choose between more alternatives (cars) C, D, E and F with increasing criteria set! With Focal Point we solve this situation by doing a pair wise comparison. Compare two alternatives at a time according to one criterion. Then combine all of this and visualize your choices. Sounds easy? You could also have multiple people making their choices based on their priorities and opinions and then get an overall visualization of them.
Now, a few features of Focal Point:
Web Client - A browser is all the end user needs.
Access control through views
A multisite collaboration platform,
Powerful filtering techniques
Built in graphs to enhance visualization.
Easy data transfer(import/export)
Send email notifications on alert situations
Take advantage of the Rational Innovate 2011 - Bangalore and Delhi when we showcase and talk about a number of such solutions. We have planned a number of tracks, Sessions and technical Workshops.
