Watson Explorer 188.8.131.52 is much more than just bug fixes! The Watson Explorer team released enhanced functionality for an improved search experience as well as making it easier for developers and administrators to build and maintain their 360-degree information applications.
1. Rebranding complete!
As of version 184.108.40.206, IBM InfoSphere Data Explorer is now known as “IBM Watson Explorer”. The product is now a part of the Watson family, to reflect its powerful and extensible search capabilities and their promise for cognitive computing. With 220.127.116.11 comes the actual rebranding, so administrators and users now see that the product is called Watson Explorer.
2. Application Builder search result customization
It is now possible to style individual search results that appear in the search result list. An application developer can provide a custom embedded Ruby template that will be processed for each result item.
3. Export results from Application Builder
A highly requested feature to export a list of search results from an Application Builder search page has landed in this release. You can now export in various formats for consumption in other applications or sharing offline.
4. Improved Java Converter performance
In the 18.104.22.168 release, the Java Converter Framework was overhauled to create uniform plug-ins, operate more efficiently, and enable developers to take advantage of existing libraries to improve document conversion. The 22.214.171.124 release eliminates some of the JVM overhead for Java converters, netting a solid performance gain. It is also much more configurable, so converters can take advantage of multiple multiprocessing methods.
5. New Connector: IBM Connections
The Watson Explorer Connectivity team, along with great input from its sponsor users and beta customers, built connector plug-ins to integrate with another IBM product: IBM Connections. IBM Connections is an enterprise-ready social networking platform. With this connector included in the product, enterprises using IBM Connections for collaboration can provide users with a unified search experience within Watson Explorer.
