1. IBM SmartCloud for Social Business provides a variety of ways to socialize
Social business can take place in many forms. SmartCloud for Social Business focuses on these key areas:
2. Security is incorporated in the product
Security is increasingly critical as threats continue to escalate. IBM SmartCloud for Social Business provides comprehensive policies on privacy and client data protection. Its security-rich infrastructure builds security into the all aspects of the environment, starting from the hardware up through the middleware and into the applications. Also, its policy enforcement points provide application security by providing the ability to customize the user security policy, allowing the enterprise to apply the security standards to the environment. This approach ensures better control of corporate security options. In addition, information protection through governance, tools, technology, and personnel is vital to creating a secure environment.
3. IBM SmartCloud for Social Business supports a cloud deployment model
BM SmartCloud for Social Business is implemented in a public cloud deployments model (service only) or a hybrid deployment model. In a service only deployment, the entire Infrastructure is hosted in the SmartCloud environment. There is no integration with any infrastructure on the organization’s internal (private) network, making it quick and easy to deploy.
A typical Service Only deployment of IBM SmartCloud Notes is shown in the following figure:
In a hybrid deployment, the public cloud hosted services are configured to connect to services hosted in an organization’s internal (private) network. In this case, IBM SmartCloud for Social Business can integrate and communicate directly with services hosted “on premises” in an organization’s private network zone. The organization may choose to host some or all of their applications in the on-premises environment while accessing mail in the cloud, host a subset of users' mail in the cloud and a subset on premises -- a hybrid deployment offers a lot of flexibility.
4. IBM SmartCloud for Social Business incorporates Acceleration (Akamai) Network technology
The current implementation of Acceleration network technology takes advantage of an acceleration network with more than 75,000 edge servers. The key benefits include more consistent and reliable application performance and routing. The numerous edge servers offer access points closer to the various locations from which our users access the services, meaning, the users have a consistent experience from almost any location. In addition, this highly available network infrastructure protects systems from single server/service failure while providing a more reliable performance experience.
