This blog contains posts that share five interesting facts about one of IBM's products or services. This blog is brought to you by IBM Redbooks and is maintained by Martin Keen (@MartinRTP) and James Pistilli.
The IBM Redbooks mobile app, available for iOS and Android, is the best way to browse and consume IBM Redbooks deliverables on the go. And now with the latest update you can get updates of new Redbooks deliverables with newly added support for notifications.
Here are 5 things to know:
1. Notifications provide a one-tap view to a Redbooks publication
The IBM Redbooks mobile app sends out notifications when new publications are available. Just tap on a notification and you are taken directly to that publication abstract page where you can learn more about it, and read the publication right from within the app.
2. Notifications can be tailored to your interests
By default you’ll receive notifications for all Redbooks publications. However you can tailor the app to just send notifications for subject areas you are interested in. Simply go to the Notification Settings screen and select the subject areas of interest to you.
3. Only one notification per day
On a given day, multiple Redbooks books, papers, drafts, and other deliverables may be added to the extensive IBM Redbooks catalog. But no matter how many times a day that catalog is updated, you will never receive more than one notification per day. You can also specify “do not disturb” hours to ensure the app does not send notifications during a given timeframe.
4. The last seven days of notifications can be viewed in the app
Clicking on the Inbox icon in the app shows you all notifications received within the last week. From there, you can click on a notification to view a publication, delete individual notifications, or clear all notifications.
5. Even your Apple Watch can tell you about new publications
Get notifications on new Redbooks publications right from your Apple Watch. Just enable the IBM Redbooks app to allow notifications on your watch, and you’ll always know when something new and of interest to you is available, no matter where you are.
