I recently spoke with a support representative for OMEGAMON XE for CICS TG on z/OS, v4.2.0 and discussed customer inquiries on any performance issues that were made over the last quarter. He informed me that APAR OA34597 and OA31693 were authored to address and improve some key aspects of performance in the product's last release. One customer reported a performance degradation problem in the agent address space and inquired whether the development team could reduce the amount of CPU usage when monitoring multiple CICS Transaction Gateway... OMEGAMON XE on z/VM and Linux 4.2.0 IF5 is now available for download on Fix Central The kvl_resources.jar file was signed with a certificate that was set to expire June 2013. This could cause problems with the Java WebStart or Browser based desktops. Additionally, the Wondows KVL*.EXE installation files have been digitally signed with a new certificate. The Language Pack has also been resigned and is available on Fix Central.
Recently, I worked with an airline company to identify why a few transactions out of hundreds per second were failing. Many z/OS applications act as a TCP/IP server and accept connections from users or applications on other hosts and mobile devices. The application at this customer that is experiencing problems does accept connections from end users, but it also acts as a TCP/IP client to retrieve information from servers running on Linux. Some of the transactions between the z/OS application and Linux servers were failing. Here's a brief... [More]
On z/OS data collected during the OMEGAMON history collection process is stored in the Persistent Data Store (PDS). In this blog entry we will provide some insight into how to effectively monitor the PDS maintenance process. The PDS is a set of pre-allocated flat files that are continually reinitialized and reused. T he PDS maintenance process is an automated process which should not require intervention by the system administrator. However, an understanding of the PDS maintenance process will be helpful to system administrators who want to... [More]

The new release of OMEGAMON XE for Messaging v7.3.0 has an Enhanced 3270 User Interface feature that allows you to issue any MQSC display or ping command directly from the command line in most MQ workspaces.
