New Redbook for monitoring CICS Asynchronous API Transactions
Among the great new features delivered in CICS Transaction Server V5.4 one of the most important was the CICS asynchronous API, which is a simple, accessible API designed to enable CICS application developers to create efficient asynchronous programs in all CICS-supported languages. Using this API, developers can eliminate the overhead that is involved in coding and managing homegrown asynchronous solutions, instead using a set of CICS-supported API commands to underpin CICS applications, which are more responsive and robust than ever. As... [More]

IBM System Automation z/OS – How to gain 10 to 100 times faster RDS table search performance
APAR OA54030 provides enhancements for the IBM System Automation Relational Data Services (RDS). The new enhancement keeps RDS tables now in 64-bit memory. Only the control data is still held in 31-bit memory of the NetView address space. This increases the capacity of user data stored into the RDS tables. Furthermore, the INGRDS command supports direct key access for RDS tables. The direct key access improves the search performance significantly. For that purpose, a new KEY parameter has been introduced. The INGRDS functions QUERY,... [More]
