System Automation for z/OS (SA z/OS) has recently released the small product enhancement APAR OA43387 which contains improvements for the Relational Data Services (RDS). RDS helps you to organize large amount of data. Instead of using large sets of variables, you can use RDS in order to collect, update and retrieve data in relational tables similar to SQL tables. The access method is command INGRDS. If you want to use command INGRDS it is recommended to install this support. Benefits New functions for mass insert, mass update and much more.... [More]
IBM System Automation for z/OS (SA z/OS) now supports the next stage of the GDPS active-active continuous availability (GDPS/A-A) roadmap. GDPS/A-A is the next generation of GDPS and a fundamental paradigm shift for near continuous availability solutions. With V1.4, GDPS active-query is introduced that provides query (read-only) support for workloads on the secondary site, while update workloads continue to be executed on the primary site (GDPS active-standby configuration). In addition, GDPS active-query makes use of new workload... [More]

Why monitor CSA and ECSA? Its simple, when common storage (CSA, ECSA, SQA, and ESQA) is exhausted, a system outage will occur. When ESQA is exhausted, further requests for ESQA are allocated from ECSA. When ECSA is exhausted, further requests are allocated from the much smaller CSA storage. The main reasons why common storage shortages occur: Not enough common storage is allocated Activity on the system exceeds previous levels, resulting in additional common storage being allocated An address space allocates more and more common... NetView for z/OS V6.2 is available today, October 25, 2013, bringing more value out of the box, with additions and enhancements in key areas. NetView V6.1 introduced the Canzlog function to bring together syslog, netlog, and job records in one consolidated log. NetView V6.2 significantly expands the power of the Canzlog to include any arbitrary grouping of systems. This allows simplified debugging of sysplex, cross-system or multi-system problems from a central location, without the need to log on to each system individually. ... [More]
Message Revision Table (MRT) and Command Revision Table (CRT) are now available in IBM Automation Control for z/OS 1.1. Message revision enables user-defined modification of attributes such as color, route code, descriptor code, display and syslog settings, and text of original z/OS® messages (rather than copies). Here is an... [More]
Hello All, Here are some interesting enhancements to SA z/OS, shipped earlier this year: OA41251 Allow dedicated log streams for each subplex in the physical sysplex. This requirement came up on several occasions in the past. When looking at INGHIST data, only history information about work items processed on this subplex (SA plex) are visible. The data is no longer shared for the complete physical sysplex. This not only increases readability but is important for multi tenancy support. Joblog Monitoring has been enhanced to handle... [More]
