zAware is a helpful tool from IBM's System Technology Group which can let you know when applications in your z/OS environment are doing unusual things. It monitors your system log for messages that are, for you, statistically unusual. zAware's browser session can show you when unusual message traffic is brewing by presenting what it calls it's "anomaly score". OMEGAMON XE on z/OS version 5.3.0 added support for near-term history. You can quickly and easily resolve problems by viewing the resources when the symptoms first started – in the last few hours or past few days. This release delivers what focus groups told us was most important: historical data for the Central Processing Complexes (CPCs), LPARs, Workload Manager (WLM) service classes, Address Spaces, and DASD Devices.
