OMEGAMON XE on z/OS version 5.3.0 added support for near-term history. You can quickly and easily resolve problems by viewing the resources when the symptoms first started – in the last few hours or past few days. This release delivers what focus groups told us was most important: historical data for the Central Processing Complexes (CPCs), LPARs, Workload Manager (WLM) service classes, Address Spaces, and DASD Devices.
How do I view historical data for CPCs and LPARs?
This image shows how to navigate from OMEGAMON XE on z/OS Enhanced 3270 User Interface real time workspaces into the historical workspaces for CPCs and LPARs. We start from Enterprise Summary which is the default workspace when you logon to the OMEGAMON Enhanced 3270 User Interface.
The blue boxes are our real-time workspaces. The yellow boxes are our historical workspaces. The connecting lines show the character that you would use to navigate to the next workspace. For example to get to the Historical Summary For CPCs Serving Sysplex you could select the Sysplex row of interest in the Enterprise Summary sub-panel, place an "H" in its input field and hit enter.
We'll use this same pattern to show the navigation path ways to all of our new near-term history workspaces.
How do I view historical data for WLM Service Classes and Address Spaces?
How do I view historical data for Address Space Execution and Delay States?
We see in this image a new navigation technique called ZOOM. When you see the values in a column in white it means they have zoom capability. That is if you place the cursor on the value in the column and hit enter you will navigate to the workspace shown in the diagram and display data for the row you selected. So if you zoom from the CPU Delay column for address space Alpha in the Historical Sysplex Delay Details workspace you will go to the Historical Address space CPU Delay Details workspace at the chosen time and for address space Alpha.
