In OMEGAMON XE for IMS v510 we released our first content in the new Enhanced 3270 User Interface. One of the very useful things that this interface allows us to do is show you information across your entire IMSplex – even across LPARs - on one screen. Lets start on our main workspace, KIPSTART. We'll be looking at the first subpanel, which shows a list of all of the IMSplexes in our environment, focusing on IMSplex IA1C for this scenario:
Already, we notice that somewhere within the IMSplex, a locking condition has occurred. Without needing to view any of the individual IMS systems, we can select option “L” on IA1C to view Lock Conflicts.
It looks like we have a job that is blocking other jobs from completion for the past couple of hours. Notice that this job, IMSLKAA2 has been flagged as the “Top Blocker”. This means that there are the largest number of jobs waiting on this job's completion, making it easy to find out where the real problem is. After clearing the conflict, in this case purging IMSLKAA2, our IMSplex runs smoothly again. If you want to view all of the IMS systems across the plex you can navigate to option “S” IMS Health. Here you can see information about each IMS system individually, and navigate to view IMS specific information rather than across the whole plex.
Next time we'll take a look at other helpful workspaces, including Dependent Regions and Transactions to figure out why those pesky transactions are starting to fill our Tran Queue.
