IBM Tivoli System Automation for z/OS version 3.4 or higher provides Relational Data Services (RDS) that enables you to create, modify and query relational tables similar to SQL. There is an enhancement that supports now the parameter TARGET for command INGRDS. This helps you to access and replicate RDS tables located on remote systems. Install the PTF for APAR OA46166 in order to use this enhancement.
There is a master RDS table on system A . On system B you want a SA REXX program to modify the remote master table. On system C and D a SA REXX program has the need to read the updated master table.
Update remote master table
INGRDS UPDATE master SET(Mission='Die Another Day)') WHERE(name='Bond') TARGET(system_A)
Replicate periodically the master table to a list of systems
On system A you may use INGTIMER in order to schedule the replication of the master table every 5 minutes to a list of systems:
command = “INGRDS EXPORT master TARG
Refresh locally the copy of the master table
System B, C or D might have the need to refresh the copy of the master table. This may be done by:
INGRDS IMPORT master TARGET(system_A)
