IBM Tivoli System Automation for z/OS version 3.4 or higher provides Relational Data Services (RDS) that allows you to create, modify and query relational tables similar to SQL. Enhancements are now available for RDS that help you to share name-value pairs conveniently and efficiently between NetView tasks, TSO sessions and TSO batch jobs.
The new RDS function GETVAR and PUTVAR reads and writes a single name-value-pair or a list of multiple name-value-pairs in an atomic manner, which means it updates existing name-value-pairs or inserts new ones within multi-tasking and multi address space environments. The name-value-pairs are stored in a default RDS table and/or in user defined RDS tables.
