PARMGEN tip: Create or convert a sharing-with-Base RTE and a Base RTE in one streamlined PARMGEN process

Popular PARMGEN FAQs about base-sharing RTEs:
PARMGEN streamlined the set-up and deployment of sharing RTEs in general. Creating the shared-to RTE (a Base RTE in this case)
and the RTE that shares the Base is a one-step process in PARMGEN mode .
1. create the ICAT Base RTE first (RTE Name=BASE1 as an example). This process involves several steps: ("Add RTE" step,
"Build Base libraries for Product#1" step, "Load Base RTE libraries for Product#1" step, "Build Base libraries for Product#2" step,
"Load Base RTE libraries for Product#2" step, repeat Build and Load steps for each additional Product#n)
2. next, create the ICAT RTE (RTE Name=SHRBASEI) that shares the BASE1 base RTE. This process involves several steps: ("Add RTE" step,

Creating a new PARMGEN RTE (Sharing with a Base RTE):
In PARMGEN mode, there are only 3 LPAR RTE profile parameters required to make an RTE "sharing":
In PARMGEN, there is no need to go through a separate RTE process to create the base RTE first. You can go directly to creating the master,
base-sharing RTE (RTE Name=SHRBASEP in the FAQ example) in order to set-up both the base set of libraries (SMP/E copies of the target libraries)
and the sharing RTE runtime datasets and members.

1 component or all 38 components that will be configured in the new SHRBASEP RTE (out-of-box configuration defaults are mostly provided).

runtime base libraries, in addition to the image-specific, unique LPAR RTE datasets for SHRBASEP RTE.
PARMGEN also sets-up the product started tasks and other runtime members to point to the base libraries accordingly.
Converting an ICAT Base RTE and a Sharing-with-Base RTE in PARMGEN mode:
You do not need to convert the ICAT Base RTE first (RTE Name=BASE1 in our FAQ example) into a PARMGEN RTE, before
you can convert the ICAT sharing RTE (RTE Name=SHRBASEI) that shares the BASE1 RTE.
Following normal ICAT-to-PARMGEN conversion process outlined in the RTE PGNnn implementation scenarios in the publications, the
PARMGEN KCIJPCNV ICAT-to-PARMGEN conversion job automatically reads both ICAT Batch RTE extracted parameter members
RTE SHRBASEI profile in WCONFIG. Resultant PARMGEN LPAR RTE (converted) profile WCONFIG(SHRBASEI) sets the RTE_X_HILEV_SHARING
and RTE_SHARE values accordingly, as well as any RTE_
if different from the master sharing RTE SMS values (if applicable).
