In the recently announced V5.1.0 release for IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for CICS on z/OS, you can group CICS regions into reporting groups or CICSplexes and view data summarized at the CICSplex level. Data for the CICS regions within a CICSplex, which can span multiple LPARs, is summarized and provides quick isolation of problems. For example, you might want to view all your payroll CICS regions as a single entity. You could separate these payroll CICS regions not only by department but also by geography.
A CICS region is classified into a CICSplex using definitions in OMEGAMON XE for CICS on z/OS or can be derived from CICSPlex Systems Manager (CPSM). If the definitions in OMEGAMON XE for CICS on z/OS indicate that a CICS region is to be classified into the OMEGPLEX CICSplex, and there is a CPSM CICSplex name associated with the CICS region, it is used to classify the region in OMEGAMON. Please note that the OMEGAMON enhanced 3270 user interface cannot be used to modify or establish CPSM definitions.
You can use the CICSplex Classification Rule Definitions panel to add or delete your CICSplex classification rules. You generally access this panel, from the CICSplex Regions Summary panel.See this video on how to add/delete CICSplex Classification rules
The following attributes of a CICS region are used to assigned the region to a CICSplex on the CICSplex Classification Rules panel:
The name of the CICS region being monitored.
The name of the z/OS Sysplex where the CICS region is running.
The identifier of the z/OS image where the CICS region is running.
The unique VTAM Applid of the CICS region.
VTAM Generic Applid
The unique generic VTAM Applid of the CICS region.
The XCF group where the CICS region belongs.
You add any attributes from the Add a new CICSplex Classification Rule pop-up panel.
