My team monitors the Performance of a 6 way Parallel Sysplex running z/OS 1.12, 5 way CICSPlex 4.1, and a 3 way IMSPlex 1.11 for a large Financial Institution with $25 billion in revenue, $153 billion in total assets, and approximately 40,000 employees. We rely on several IBM® Tivoli® OMEGAMON® products to monitor this production environment including OMEGAMON XE 420 for CICS on z/OS.
In the latter part of the 2nd quarter, we will be adding zIIP and zAAP processors to this environment. We are wondering if OMEGAMON XE for CICS on z/OS will be able to take advantage of the zIIP or zAAP processors to reduce our general CPU usage? -Curious in Cleveland
Dear Curious in Cleveland,
OMEGAMON XE for CICS on z/OS is able to take advantage of zIIP processors with the release of OMEGAMON XE for CICS on z/OS 510 - which is now available. When a zIIP processor is available, customers could see general CPU usage reduced up to 70% for SLA(Service Level Analysis) processing.
Besides the zIIP off-loading capability, the OMEGAMON XE for CICS on z/OS 510 release also features an enhanced 3270 user interface, which enables CICSplex monitoring for workloads & resources, and enables you to view enterprise-wide information, from a single 3270 screen.
