IBM System Automation for z/OS (SA z/OS) now supports the next stage of the GDPS active-active continuous availability (GDPS/A-A) roadmap. GDPS/A-A is the next generation of GDPS and a fundamental paradigm shift for near continuous availability solutions. With V1.4, GDPS active-query is introduced that provides query (read-only) support for workloads on the secondary site, while update workloads continue to be executed on the primary site (GDPS active-standby configuration). In addition, GDPS active-query makes use of new workload balancing capabilities that allows to route the queries to the primary site if the data on the secondary site lacks behind more than an installation defined limit.
Another important characteristic of GDPS active-query is the support of multiple consistency groups that expands the bandwidth of parallel data replication while ensuring consistent data copies on the secondary site.
OA41476, available for both SA z/OS V3.3 and SA z/OS V3.4 ensures that the new GDPS active-query function is enabled correctly.
