The SMF type 89 record provides information about product usage on a particular MVS system. A record will be written for products that have registered to indicate that they are running on the system. The SMF type 89 record has two subtypes:
Subtype 1 which contains product usage data
Subtype 2 which contains product state data.
With APAR PM97264 Tivoli Decision Support for z/OS (TDSz) provides exploitation support (from TDSz Version 1.8.1) for both the SMF type 89 subtype 1 and 2 records. The following new data tables are provided within the z/OS Performance Management (MVSPM) Component with this APAR:
This table collects product usage as well as product state information from SMF type 89 subtype 1 and 2 records.
This table collects product intersection information from SMF type 89 subtype 1 records.
This table collects MSU information on LPAR level from SMF type 70 records. It contains the MSU capacity, the actual MSU consumption, as well as the 4 hour rolling MSU averages.
All of these new tables have a default retention period of 90 days.
We are currently developing MSU reporting in TDSz, which will be rolled out in the near future. More information will be made available on these reports soon.
