With the current speed of change and ongoing requirement for better service, new solutions are needed to prepare for the risk change is creating for your IT infrastructure and business. Given the amount of data available, the challenge is managing that data and transforming it into relevant information to make decisions. Integrating and visualizing structured data as well as unstructured data adds significant value to isolating and diagnosing problems as well as preventing and predicting potential opportunities. Just recently we introduced a new version of our Tivoli Decision Support product for System z. This new version added new Key Performance Metrics Reports as well as data collection and reporting optimization. The time and cost has been reduced significantly. The new KPM reports help simplify the day to day analysis needed to run your data center proactively. Rather than wait for a problem to occur and react, this new feature provides insight into problems which are looming.
Some of the key performance metrics are listed below:
1. Address Space Statistics (SMF type 30)
2. LPAR Statistics (SMF type 70)
3. Storage Statistics (SMF type 71)
4. Workload Statistics (SMF type 72_3)
5. Capture Ratio Workload/LPAR
6. Channel Statistics (SMF Type 73)
7. Coupling Facility Statistics (SMF type 74_4)
8. Hardware Capacity Statistics (SMF type 113_2)
9. Problem Determination (SMF 99)
Of course to simplify the reporting, exception reporting is part of the solution. It is easy to setup and report on pre-defined exceptions to your z/OS key performance metrics.
Similar KPM Components are also available for CICS, DB2 and IMS, collecting the data needed to check the performance of these important sub-systems.
DB2 partitioning and table space management has simplified the management and upgradability of this new release.
