This is John Arnesen with NetView and System Automation level 2 support. Even though I don't support GDPS, it does sit on top of NetView/SA and I received the following information today. You may find it useful if you are also running GDPS/PPRC.
This newsletter is being sent to highlight two GDPS V3R9 PTFs in error, which can result in HyperSwap integrity problems with symptoms that include unwarranted system resets and/or lost updates during swap processing.
PTF UK83124 contains an error in program logic that can cause HyperSwap freeze processing to hang.
The problem is addressed by APAR PM79866, PTFs UK91702 and UK91703, which correct the program logic.
PTF UK92376 causes problems with cross-system HyperSwap coordination if it is installed on some systems but not all in the GDPS sysplex.
The problem is addressed by APAR PM87532, PTFs UK94724 and UK94726, which add monitoring to disable HyperSwap if incompatible GDPS module levels are found across systems.
Both of these fixes have requirements for multiple system installation, and PTF UK94724 has special actions required for fix activation. Please carefully follow the HOLD data in the associated PTFs, and contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about the required procedures.
