So, I'm sitting around trying to catch a breather from the roll out of all the new OMEGAMON V 5.3.0 releases announced on July 15th and GA’ed on September 5th. htt
I think the key is monitoring vs a daily management tool. Recently lots of new functions have been introduced to the toolkit and enhancements to increase the scope of what the product manages. These types of enhancements really are geared toward making life easier and more efficient for the storage administrator. One of the new enhancements in V 5.3.0 is geared toward the new Enhanced 3270 user interface (E3270UI) and providing Near-Term-History. Significant is that it's for the New E3270UI as that is what we think some of the SMEs are starting to use within the OMEGAMON family. This and the embedded data capability which allows users to incorporate information from other OMEGAMONs into the same workspace in an E3270UI screen greatly improves the ability to analyze and correct problems. Another enhancement that came out now provides the ability to generate detailed reports for data sets that can be rolled off to files that you can easily massage with Excel or any other tool that work with format delimited files. There are a lot of other enhancements delivered in OMEGMON XE for Storage on z/OS V 5.3.0 that increases your capability to efficiently manage your z/OS Storage environment.
