This is John Arnesen with NetView z/OS level 2 support.
Did you know that in addition to running Packet Tracing, NetView also does Packet Trace analysis? Have a look at section 126.96.36.199.3 Analyzing and Saving IP Packet Traces in the NetView IP Management manual: http
There is no need to run the Packet Trace from Comm Server, use the NetView options available from the IPTRACE panel.
Give it a try!!
Here are some screen shots showing how to look at the Packet Analyze and the actual Packets.
Once you have your packet trace running (from the IPTRACE command, PKTTRACE Option), the PKTTRACE main panel will show three options. Choose option 3-View Packets and hit enter.
Hit enter to see see the screen with the Analyze option (F10)
Hit F10 to see the Analysis screen. I did not have any errors to report, but if you do, you can select then from this screen to review. Be sure to hit F1 for help to explain what your choices are.
Also you can hit F4 to see the specific packets in the trace. Put your cursor on the packet you want to review and hit F4.
There are several pages of data to scroll through.
