Are you going to install and use Enterprise COBOL V5 in your z/OS environment?
Are you going to use the IWS (aka TWS) for z/OS PIF sample programs (like EQQPIFJC) or to create new ones to run with COBOL V5?
Either case you might find usefull to read the following info about changes introduced with the new Enterprise COBOL for z/OS V5.
-There are new DD cards (like SYSMDECK and 15 SYSUTxx datasets) that are required by the COBOL compiler in the compile JCL.
You might need to review the job used to compile your PIF program.
-The support for PDSE libraries has been added with COBOL V5. The Cobol object code, starting from V5 on, can only be stored in PDSE libraries.
You need to be sure that the job used to linkedit your COBOL PIF program, stores the output in a PDSE dataset, otherwise it ends with RC=12.
-In the Enterprise COBOL V5 compiler, there are some options new, some tolerated and some other which are not accepted anymore.
Hereafter the options that are not anymore accepted by Enterprise COBOL V5 compiler:
* TEST(ALL, BLOCK, PATH, STMT, NONE, SYM, NOSYM)
The compiler parameter RESIDENT is not anymore supported and needs to be removed from the TWS for z/OS PIF COBOL samples when used with COBOL V5.
