Thanks guys, now everyone knows that today IBM announced Service Management Suite for z/OS® V1.3.0!
In conjunction with this release, NetView for z/OS V6.2.1, which is a component product of the Service Management Suite, will ship several new-function APARs delivering customer-requested enhancements and greater value to automation, customization and serviceability:
- expanded support for global variables, allowing for variable names up to 250 characters long, and values up to 31000 characters long. Among other uses, this will expand customers’ ability to manage USS environments from NetView, by storing more data in global variables, for example, long pathnames, or long commands used for automated fallback in case of an application server deployment failure.
introduction of CNMSCATU, a separate member specifically for customer-defined command authorization definitions. Use of this member, which is %INCLUDEd in the NetView-supplied command authorization member, ensures that customer-defined authorization statements are preserved when a new release or a fix affecting command authorization definitions is applied.
output of the DBAUTO command (which enables users to purge entries from their VSAM database, reorganize the database, switch to a secondary database, or clear the database altogether) has been enhanced in the case of command failure to indicate the actual failing process, not just the overall command the user entered.
