OMEGAMON XE on z/OS version 5.3.0 with Interim Feature 2 is providing support for the use of flash memory in Storage Class Memory. z/OS has supported Storage Class Memory since the introduction of the IBM zEC12 processor. Its use is becoming more prevalent and so OMEGAMON XE on z/OS is adding screens that give performance information that can help you insure the paging subsystem is making good use of this storage.
Oh by the way, this feature is also beefing up our support for 4Hr Rolling Average. The SYS/XRMSU classic command and the 4-Hour Rolling Average MSU Statistics report in the Enhance 3270 User Interface have 4 new attributes (more later).
How is OMEGAMON supporting Flash
OMEGAMON XE on z/OS has support for in both the OMEGAMON for z/OS Classic interface and in the Enhanced 3270 User Interface.
OMEGAMON for z/OS (classic interface) support for Storage Class Memory
One new major command is introduced to present new attributes. It has 3 minor commands that present values as rates, counts for the interval, and counts since IPL.
MSCM is the major command name. An example of it is
SCMR is the first of the minor commands. It presents data as rates, activity per second. Here is an example of it.
There are two more minor commands SCMC and SCMT which provide the same attribute as SCMR but the values represent counts and totals respectively.
Enhanced 3270 User Interface support for Storage Class Memory
The existing System Paging and Page Dataset Activity workspace has been enhanced to present the LPAR level information for flash usage. The same attribute definitions seen for the MSCM command and the LPAR level of the SCMR minor apply. There is also a Flash Memory Activity Details workspace that can be reached by doing a hot key navigation from the Measurement Interval attribute.
An example of the new System Paging and Page Dataset Activity workspace is

4-Hour Rolling Average MSU Statistics
As mentioned earlier the 4-Hour Rolling Average MSU Statistics function in both our classic and Enhanced 3270 User Interface has been enhance with 4 new attributes.
Classic major command SYS with minor command XRMSU present these value as shown below
An example of these value seen in the Enhanced 3270 User Interface would be
The "Current" values are the same as seen in the most recent completed interval which is the second row of the 5 Minute Interval subpanel
