With the latest release of the Enhanced 3270UI OA51564/UA83356, managing situations and groups is now available on the 3270, not just in the TEP interface. With this new iteration of features, the Situation Editor and Object Editor have been added to an SME's problem solving arsenal, directly from the Enhanced 3270UI. Experts will find the Situation Editor incredibly useful for monitoring by exception. By creating situations that monitor specific aspects of an environment, users can be notified of issues with a system resource before the problem becomes a critical failure. Before the most recent release of the Enhanced 3270UI, the TEP had to be used to Start, Stop, Edit, and Distribute situations. Now users have this functionality available directly at their finger tips from inside the Enhanced 3270UI. The Situation Editor in the Enhanced 3270UI deploys many useful features when dealing with situations. Options such as creating , editing, formula editing, distribution lists, actions, starting, and stopping situations are now just a few clicks away from any 3270UI workspace.
From the Situation Editor main workspace you'll be able to perform any available action by selecting one of the rows. For a list of options a '/' can be entered next to a row where you'll be presented with the available actions for that situation.
By either creating a new situation or editing an existing situation you'll have the ability to view and edit information about the formula, actions, distributions, etc for that given situation.
Since there is single database of the situations located at the Hub TEMS these situations can be edited either from the Enhanced 3270UI or the TEP. This also means any existing situations you've created using the TEP interface will now be available for management under the TOM.
Available along side the Situation editor in the Edit menu drop down you'll find the Object Editor. The Object Editor, like the Situation Editor was once only available in the TEP. With the new release of the Enhanced 3270UI it too has been added to the TOM.
You can use the Object Editor to organize managed systems and situations into name groups which you can reference in distribution lists. The tree shows the types of object groups that are available and groups that have been created. There are 2 types of groups available to be created via the Object Editor: Managed System and Situation Groups. Any set of managed systems that are related, such as by business function or by geography, can be organized into a managed system group for assigning to situation distributions.
For a set of frequently distributed situations, you can create a situation group to save time and ensure consistency in applying your best practices. The groups displayed by the Object Editor, like the Situation Editor are kept at the Hub TEMS so any newly created groups can be seen in the TEP and any groups created in the TEP can be managed in the Enhanced 3270UI.
