Come and get the new Dashboard Edition (DE) Situation Status Tree now as it is ready for your use. For 3270 focused z/OS users the Tivoli OMEGAMON Dashboard Edition on z/OS now includes the enhanced 3270 User Interface Situation Status Tree. Use the out of the box overview dashboard to visually view the last 4 hours of near term history and current status of your situations (exception condition alerts) . You need to install PTF UA77224 to the DE (MV310 FMID). Then for the OMNIMON BASE component you need the OB730 level and install PTF UA78382. Then you are ready to get going. You can use with OMEGAMONs at either the 510 or 530 levels.
It has been designed to replace OMEGAVIEW, Where the older OMEGAVIEW is based on thresholds from the older CUA OMEGAMONs, the new DE Situation Status Tree is based on the very powerful situation functions built into the OMEGAMON XE products. It has been referred to as “OMEGAVIEW on STEROIDS”.
Do you have hundreds of LPARs, thousands of CICS Regions, or dozens of MQ systems?
From the dashboard we can expand the MQ area to look into why MQ is red.
From the dashboard you can click on any blob to get the situation details at the time. Here we have history of situations from September 2 at 5:50AM till current 9:49AM giving you a 4 hour view. You see what situations are currently open and drill down for the OMEGAMON MQ details from the metrics that caused the situation to trigger, So if we click on the latest state blob for the open MQ Channel Stopped for Q7G1 to Q7G4 to understand more about the channel stopped issues for MQ.
We see when the event triggered the situations and also now you can drill down for rmore details of the MQ agent collection on this situation.
A more interesting look at zOS issues later shows us possible CSA, ECSA and maybe a cpu looping address space that we can go investigate, notice these are recent issues by seeing where the RED or YELLOW blobs start.
As you can see the new OMEGAMON DE Situation Status tree in the Enhanced 3270 User Interface is very powerful to allow a glance view at your situations and the ability to drill down for needed details to help you manager your zOS systems
