System Automation for z/OS V3.5 delivered APAR OA50631 that provides a best practices sample policy for OMEGAMON XE for z/OS JVM Feature. The best practices policy allows you to quickly create the necessary System Automation resources for the ITM Infrastructure, the OMEGAMON enhanced 3270 UI (TOM), the OMEGAMON XE JVM Monitoring Agent (TEMA) and the OMEGAMON XE JVM Monitoring Collector address spaces including the relationships between all the required parts without having to worry about the details yourself. Once created, the new resources can be be automatically started on IPL, shutdown for maintenance activities, but also individually operated using the System Automation user interface. And if that is not sufficient for your particular installation, you can easily expand the level of monitoring and automation by using System Automation application groups to create redundant copies of resources for high availability.
