There are many good OMEGAMON sessions this week at Share in Boston, Stop by the IBM OMEGAMON booth in the Technology Exchange Expo too and get a look at new OMEGAMON features like the zAware alerting function in OMEGAMON XE for zOS. See you there.
Hi everyone, this is Walter Davis with OMEGAMON Level 2 Support. This week we have published APAR OA42614 and its PTF UA70033 to aid in recovering from infrequent ATF problems without the side effect of an IMS abend. Implementing this new PTF does require a recycle of both the OMEGAMON started task as well as the IMS system itself. #zOS

The newest release of OMEGAMON XE on z/VM and Linux is now available. Released to coincide with the GA of z/VM 6.3, OM XE on z/VM and Linux allows you to monitor all your z/VM LPARs, regardless of which version of z/VM you are running. Designed to work with the enhancements found in z/VM 6.3, the latest OMEGAMON has all the capabilities of previous releases along with:
Support for Single System Images (SSI)
See a topologic mapping of the LPARs in your SSI
Support for Live Guest... [More]
OMEGAMON XE for zOS 5.1.1 alerts in this scenario when SP13 is not active to the zAware appliance. Then zAware could be missing SP13 having an anomaly that could cause a major issue. Subject Matter Expert is alerted when OMEGAMON sees zAware not connected for SP13. The SME checks and see the LOG STREAM was not connected to zAware at the latest IPL as it should of been. The SME connects SP13 to zAware and now OMEGAMON can alert if zAware finds an anomaly
Don't just read about new function in the OMEGAMON XE for Mainframe Networks v5.1.1 information center. Watch it and hear about it from the developers and testers who work on the product.
A number of scenarios are posted on YouTube. These scenarios are short (typically 2-3 minutes) and take a single networking problem from report to resolution. These scenarios are based on actual customer calls and use both the enhanced 3270 user interface and Tivoli Enterprise Portal.
In addition to a what's new overview, there are... [More]

Here are some interesting enhancements to SA z/OS, shipped earlier this year:
Allow dedicated log streams for each subplex in the physical sysplex.
This requirement came up on several occasions in the past.
When looking at INGHIST data, only history information about work items
processed on this subplex (SA plex) are visible. The data is no longer shared
for the complete physical sysplex.
This not only increases readability but is important for multi tenancy
Hi everyone, this is Walter Davis with OMEGAMON Level 2 Support. We've released a new HIPER PTF to aid in resolving S0C4 ABENDs in IMS CTLRGNs at Version 12 or above. After installation of OMEGAMON XE for IMS on z/OS APAR OA40749, if you're running our Transaction Reporting Facility (TRF) then you might receive a S0C4 in certain circumstances. Installing APAR OA42373 will resolve this problem for you.

Hello. I am working as RACF Admin and Systems Programmer from last 25 years. Our actual Host is near to its end-of-life. But I don't like to lose contact with this environment.
For this reason, I am searching for *free* similar resources available as a way to improve my knowledge of the diverse tools and subsystems (well-known and new) available in current IBM Mainframe Systems.
I am not thinking in the usual IBM Courses nor in free resources inside DW, IBM itself, and so. I've read some time ago about some Prometric... [More]

This is John Arnesen with NetView and System Automation level 2 support.
Are you running NetView v6r1 and wondering if a message was automated or not?
There is a easy way to tell using the Canzlog.
Issue NetView command: BR CANZLOG to pull up the Canzlog.
Then put your cursor on a message and hit enter - I selected FKX701I in this case. Notice how AutoTime shows none? This means that the message was NOT automated on.
Here is an example of a message that was automated on - DSI020I. You... [More]
