Hi,
how do I install WAS? I saw the WAS.zip file containing some disk*/, but I'm missing the Installation Manager.
Where do I get that?

Cheers,
Manfred

Dear Manfred,

it is possible to download the Installation Manager under the website:

http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/All_download_links/Software/Rational/IBM_Installation_Manager

Hope it could help you to solve the problem.

Kind regards,
Xin

Hello,
thank you a lot. I got my WAS installed. Even creating a profile went quit fast.
Next is the JAZZ package...

Thanks again,
Manfred

Its still quite difficult to install everything.
1) InstallManager is installed, but I'm trying to use commandline
2) WAS ist installed
./tools/imcl install com.ibm.websphere.BASE.v85_8.5.0.20120501_1108 -repositories /tmp/WAS-8.5/repository.config -acceptLicense -datalocation /tmp
3) Graphical creation of a Profile is done, too:
./bin/ProfileManagement/pmt.sh
4) Installation of JAZZSM failed with:
ERROR: The package Jazz for Service Management extension for IBM WebSphere 8.5 1.1 (1.1.0.20130725-0601) does not support being installed in console mode.

Next is working in GUI mode.

@IBM: What about a small todo list with all necessary commands to install the environment?
It is nearly imposible for a TSA-Admin to install all components alone.

Dear Manfred,

together with the driver, there is a "Tivoli System Automation Application Manager Installation and Configuration Guide" and in the chapter 2, there is a detailed description about the installation which could help you to install our product correctly.

I've seen that there some sentences say:
"When installing System Automation Application Manager to an AIX or Linux
system, you must ensure that an X Window session is available for displaying the
graphical installation wizard panels.

If the graphical installation program cannot be started, the installer automatically
switches to console mode. The console mode is not supported, and can't be used for the installation of the product."

Could you please try to install the product in the graphical mode?

Hope these could help you.

Kind regards,
Xin

Dear Xin,
I'm still stuck at installatin the DASH.
It took me already a lot of time to install WAS manually, as I'm not a WAS-Admin.
The JAZZSM-Extension was no problem.
But then I got problems at the Dashboard App Service Hub.

I finished the Installation feature. Then using Modify, I was trying several times to execute Configuration, but everytime my X11 connection breaks with an X11 dialog:
"JVM termination. Exit code=1 ..."

Now I'm trying the console mode of tools/imcl....

Regards, Manfred.

Hi Manfred,
sorry to read from your trouble. Am I right - it is the JVM of the installation manager which crashes?
Which version of installation manager are you using? We are still using 1.6.2 in our environment (64bit) - have you downloaded a newer one? Is it 32bit or 64bit?

Thanks for your patience.

Hi Josi,
I'm using an installed version of:
"""
IBM Installation Manager
Version: 1.6.2
Internal version: 1.6.2000.20130301_2248

and it looks like a 32bit version:

Dear Manfred,

yeah, I have received your email. After analyzing the trace logs last week, we suggest you to uninstall JazzSM and DASH, and then install them again. I have also sent you back an email in detail with a related uninstall and install document.

Thanks for your patience.
