About Enterprise Computing Remote Mentoring Process:
Only students who successfully complete the projects will get a certificate from IBM. Faculty of these projects also get a certificate.
The programs also aims at crowd-sourcing. Many student-groups apply for same project. Of these it is our experience that some groups work on the project while some groups do not. The IBM mentor just facilitates the projects & puts his/her effort with the group that works. So say 5 groups apply for a project, but 3 works on it and completes it successfully. The mentor will work on these 3 and not chase the 2 groups that do not have interest. And students of these 3 groups that complete it successfully will get certificate.
- I applied and then nothing happened - Did ALL in your team click on the link at their email ID and confirm the project application. Did your faculty also click on the link and confirm his/her readiness to be the guide for the project.
- My approach paper got rejected - The approach paper may not be in line with what the project aims. Also if many groups apply for a project, then approach paper gets rejected as it goes beyond mentors bandwidth to manage. (Say a mentor can manage 3 groups, but 10 apply of which 7 gives good approach paper. Mentor will choose the 3 best approach and rejects the other). So if your approach is rejected it does not mean that your paper was bad.
- When do I get certificate: Unlike traditional summer training - this is outcome based. You will get certificate when your team has successfully completed the project. There is a time limit for the work (every project has the duration) - however the mentor has the authority to grant some extension in discussion with faculty guide.
