You may have heard about Rational Developer for Power Systems Software , which now has support for COBOL and C/C++ development on AIX as well as IBM i application development. It is easy to kick the tires by downloading the trial from here . Fix Pack 3 for RDi v7.5 is now available. The fix pack contains enhancements and fixes to version 7.5. To install the fix pack, start the IBM Installation Manager and click on 'Update'. The fix pack is also available as a downloadable zip (500MB). You will find it on the Download section of the support site soon. The Rational Developer for i trial page ( https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/downloads/r/rdi/ ) is not currently showing the Web Install option but it is possible. The Rational Developer for Power Systems Software V8.0.3 refresh pack is now available. For new customers, you can download a full electronic image of 8.0.3 or order the physical media using Passport Advantage or AAS. Existing customers can update to the 8.0.3 level. Last Friday I was presenting at the Wisconsin user group (WMCPA) on various RDi related topics. It was their all day fall conference and it went really well IMHO. Here are a few random thoughts from the day. There is a mental shift moving from the green screen "single task" based tools to the "multi-task" based RSE environment.
