Here's a little known trick - are you looking to put images in your group description? What about if you have images or HTML that you want to include in your wiki? Or you are trying to link to a file in a message board post? If you've tried to do any of these you realized you have to host your files somewhere and odds are, you don't have anywhere to do that. Except you do
and you didn't even know it. Here's how:
- For images, you can store them in your group blog. Create a group blog, go to "settings" and select the "create and edit" tab. Select "File uploads" Upload your image file and it will show you a list of all the files you have uploaded (typically images you have in your blog already). Right click on the image you wish to reference in your group description and select "copy link location". That's it. You have now hosted your image for your group description. Now we certainly encourage you to do more than just use your blog for storing images (but you can hide your blog if that's the case - see my previous post).
- For files - this is a bit more obvious. That's right - use the files application in your group. Upload a file and you can right click and select "copy link location" and reference this in your message board board or elsewhere.
