Database access is often a key element for many applications. Our user assistance team created a tutorial for EGL CE users,
Database Access with EGL Rich UI, to show how to get data from a database and display it using a Rich UI widget like Grid. There are many great lessons in the tutorial including creating a connection to a database like MySQL, creating a Grid and loading initial data as well as adding, editing and deleting data, and testing then deploying the application to a Tomcat application server. There's even some extra credit lessons to display data in a pie chart and to create a SOAP Web service so the database access functions can be used by other Rich UI handlers or applications.
