The IBM Run Time Instrumentation (RTI) Profiler is a performance analysis tool shipped with IBM Automatic Binary Optimizer for z/OS (ABO) to collect and report on the execution-time CPU performance characteristics of your batch z/OS applications. It collects high fidelity information about a batch program's CPU performance characteristics at a low overhead.
The RTI Profiler tool helps identify top CPU consuming COBOL modules that are good candidates for optimization with ABO. You can manually rebind your modules with the RTI program modules to generate RTI Profiler enabled modules, or with the ABO V2.1 continuous delivery PTF UI66467 released in Nov 2019 installed, you can use the new RTIBIND option to generate RTI Profiler enabled modules. All the CSECTs in the RTI Profiler enabled modules are profiled to let you get a complete picture of overall CPU performance. The RTI Profiler report is enhanced in ABO V2.1 to clearly summarize and display the profiling results.
By targeting the top CPU consuming modules for optimization, you can obtain most of the performance improvements of the latest optimization technologies with minimum effort.
