This document describes why HW/SW synergy is important to get the maximum benefit of the latest hardware and describes keeping current with the latest compiler version as the way of doing that. The document recommends tips and techniques of performing hotspot analysis and to make the migration effort containable, recommends upgrading the compiler levels for the few most performance critical sections of application code, instead of entire application.
