So there we were, stuck in Chicago for who knows how long, wondering when Tropical Storm Irene would mosey northward and allow air traffic to resume in the Northeast U.S. There are worse places to be stranded with one's family (love that city!), but we were hungry for information: news, weather -- anything that could keep us informed on the storm, its impact, and how and when we would get home. Good thing we packed our mobile devices (cell phone and tablet) to help us keep up with the latest developments and stay in touch with loved ones.
Made me proud to be a part of an outfit like developerWorks, which offers resources to help folks like you create and maintain effective mobile web apps. This week's top feature, for example, shows you how to use the Dojo Toolkit to create mobile apps that work on a variety of devices. I, for one, can attest to how useful such applications can be. Needless to say, we're now relieved to be home and grateful for our mobile gadgets. And since I was able to download Angry Birds, my son shared our gratitude.
We hope those of you who were affected by Irene also emerged without incident.
Until next week,
John Swanson and the developerWorks editorial team
