One year ago, we dove into the exciting and uncertain waters of social networking with the launch of My developerWorks. Was it worth it? I'll let the numbers speak for themselves: Nearly 300,000 of you have set up your profiles, and gone on to create more than 700 groups, 500 blogs, 200 wikis, and 38,000 bookmarks -- plus, you've uploaded over 4,500 files and solved who-knows-how-many problems. Yeah, you've been busy.
And you haven't been shy about telling us what worked and what didn't (thank you), so we've made a truckload of improvements based on your feedback: Profiles are more robust; you can now give status updates and view a streaming river of news; and you can connect your My developerWorks activity to other networks like LinkedIn and Facebook. How global is it? The network is now available in six languages, with more on the way.
So why not make the most of all that My developerWorks has to offer? Author a blog, start a group, create a wiki, tag some content -- there's no shortage of options for engaging and collaborating with the community. The My developerWorks enthusiasts group is the ideal place to get your bearings, and you can give us your input -- positive or negative -- in our feedback group. So what do you say? A few hundred thousand of us eagerly await your company.
Until next week,
John Swanson and the developerWorks editorial team
