If you were one of those kids who just had to get the latest toy as soon as it hit the shelves, or waited in line for the first showing of a new film, or pre-ordered the hottest video game -- then you're clearly the alphaWorks type. For 15 years, alphaWorks has been giving early adopters the chance to get their hands on the latest innovations from IBM, enabling eager folks like you to download IBM's emerging technologies at their earliest stages, evaluate them, and help influence product development.
If that sounds suspiciously like a community to you, well, we think so, too! That's why we've integrated alphaWorks into the developerWorks community, which means it's easier than ever to keep tabs on current alphaWorks offerings; each project has been launched as its own group, so you can explore, discuss, and help shape each of these nascent technologies. Check out Daryl Pereira's blog for an overview of the new alphaWorks community.
In hindsight, I wish I could have helped influence some of those movies I was so eager to see. (Yeesh!) Then again, 10-year-olds aren't all that picky.
Until next week,
John Swanson and the developerWorks editorial team
