IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager for Dynamic Content Delivery is a distributed,
grid-like service that enables you to efficiently distribute large files around your
network. Major components are as follows:
The management center provides centralized control of the upload,
replication, and download of files. It also monitors the state of depot
servers and stores file data and download statistics.
A depot server is a component that stores files and serves files to clients
Clients allow end users to download files. When peering is enabled, clients
serve downloaded files with other clients.
Using IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager for Dynamic Content Delivery, you can
upload files to a file repository called a depot server. The file is then replicated to
other depot servers located close to users that need the file. When a user
downloads a file, the user's system opens connections to multiple depot servers
or peers and simultaneously retrieves different segments of the file from
different systems. The file segments are then reassembled on the user's local
