The goal of this course will be to teach students the basic skills of statistics, operations research and transportation engineering required to solve modern transportation engineering problems. Emphasis will be placed on working through example problems, exploring empirical transportation data and developing decision-support tools for potential real-world implementation. Computer programming and mathematical reasoning skills will be developed. The course will produce more capable transportation engineers and may yield ideas for solutions to real and complex problems.
