Data Management in Smart Grids
Kathy MacWillliams 100000GQFD Visits (2038)
The primary objective of this course is to introduce the concepts of data integration and analysis topics in the special context of energy management. The course focuses on applying data mining to large volumes of energy data (e.g. time series about energy generation and consumption or key indicators like weather and production units) to identify usage patterns, to uncover previously unknown relations in data and to track and predict energy usage. The resulting knowledge provides the basis for optimizations in energy production, transmission and consumption and, therefore, directly contributes to significant energy savings. Students will have hands-on opportunities using IBM and open-source products such as Infosphere Information Server, InfoSphereWarehouse Enterprise Edition, SPSS Modeler and the Weka framework.
