A comprehensive set of innovative courseware that can be used to develop professionals who have the combination of industry and technical skills needed to lead a transformation of Smart Cities now and into the future. This work builds on and extends a prior body of work on Compact Cities. Compact Cities is a concept about participatively developing urban areas and presents a utopian vision largely driven by a desire to see more efficient use of resources. With the unprecedented and ongoing growth of urban areas globally, there are tremendous opportunities to apply the concepts of Compact Cities to designing emergent Smarter Cities. Learning materials will introduce the concepts of Compact City and apply them in analyzing and evaluating ideas for Smarter Cities.
