This course introduces the concepts of analytics smart cities and the various related techniques including data analytics, data warehousing, data mining and online analytical processing (OLAP). It explores the process, contents and context of smart city decision making and looks at how analytics can help improve smart city decision-support effectiveness in such critical areas as energy and environment, health, transportation, urban planning (e.g., crime tracking and prevention), sanitation & water and performance reporting. The course will be useful to individuals working in city government & planning, and companies actively involved in the design of smart cities, including architects and managers.
