APM 8.1.3: changing default database user names

    WalterPietroni 2000000AEC | | Comment (1) | Visits (2422)

Often customers would like to change user names to their own names, maybe using their conventions, to manage the DB2 databases created during APM (aka IPM) installation. As per following link, the "itmuser" is created during IPM installation and so it cannot be changed. https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSHLNR_8.1.3/com.ibm.pm.doc/install/planning_requirements.htm It is not possible to use customer-provided usernames in place of the DB users (itmuser, db2apm) created by the APM server install.      ... APM 8.1.3: DB2 databases

    WalterPietroni 2000000AEC | | Comments (3) | Visits (3939)

This blog entry is to explain what are the APM databases and what is their usage. There are 3 main databases which are installed into the DB2 server:   WAREHOUS database (which is also called the prefetch database) contains resource monitoring metric data from the agents. The resource monitoring agent dashboard pages display data from this database. The database also contains the metric data for the Monitoring Agent for WebSphere® Applications Reports for Tivoli Common Reporting.   DATAMART database contains transaction tracking... [More]

APM v8.1.3: Permission of the itmuser for APM databases

    WalterPietroni 2000000AEC | | Visits (2722)

The APM server install creates the DB2 instance users dasusr1, db2apm, and db2fenc1, itmuser, and the groups dasadm1, db2iadm1, db2fadm1. The installation assigns users to groups as follows: - The dasusr1 user is assigned to the dasadm1 group. - The db2apm user is assigned to the db2iadm1 and dasadm1 groups. - The db2fenc1 user is assigned to the db2fadm1 group. - The itmuser user is assigned to the dasadm1 group. The dasadm1, db2iadm1, and db2fadm1 groups are the default DB2 groups described at this link so the itmuser will have the... [More]

    MQ Monitoring agent: KMQ.IRA.AGENT.QUEUE

    WalterPietroni 2000000AEC | | Visits (3668)

You may wonder why a queue called KMQ.IRA.AGENT.QUEUE.XXXXXXXXX (XXXXXX is a serial of random number) had been deleted and recreated by MQ agent. Two main questions may arise: 1. Is this queue used by MQ agent? 2. Why the queue had been deleted and recreated? Basically MQ agent send PCF messages to WebSphere MQ (now IBM MQ) to get resource data and statistics. MQ agent uses KMQ.IRA.AGENT.QUEUE or KMQ.IRA.AGENT.QUEUE.XXXXXXXXX (dynamic queue automatically created in case KMQ.IRA.AGENT.QUEUE is not create manually) as reply queue to store data... [More]

In many cases, the KFWITM392E logon error is displayed during registration. This error often indicates a network problem in connection with a firewall / NAT configuration. As a solution, a new interface can be built that maps both the internal and the external address. In the past, there was the desire to stop a single situation on an agent. Very often sql queries were used for this. Unfortunately, these commands do not work reliably and can cause various other problems. . An example of SQL query is: =========================================================  HTEMSN:/opt/IBM/ITM/lx8266/ms/bin # ./kshsoap SOAP.txt URL.txt        =====>>  SoapRequest:  'http://172.17.1.4:1920///cms/soap' l'240    ...
