    Rafal_Szypulka 1000002XWS | | Comments (4) | Visits (4943)

Grafana is an open source metric analytics and visualization suite. It is most commonly used for visualizing time series data for infrastructure and application analytics. The  IBM APM plugin adds Grafana support for IBM Performance Management (on premises version only) and ITMv6/SCAPMv7. The plug-in uses the metrics REST API provided by IBM APM to collect realtime and historical data for presentation on the Grafana dashboard. It includes also a dedicated IBM APM panel query editor.   Grafana Features:... [More]

tacmd commands running slow and the number of SOAP processes.

tacmd commands running slow and the number of SOAP processes. Had a report that tacmd logins became slower at different times of day, sometimes taking as long as 2 minutes for the login. This can be due to a queue of tacmd/soap requests in the system. It is best to have a review of what SOAP jobs (if any) are running via batch jobs and as scripts provided to user; as these can build up over time and some may no longer be needed. However the number of threads by... [More]

ITM Situations and SNMP traps by John Alvord, IBM Corporation jalvord@us.ibm.com   Introduction It is possible to have an ITM situation running [Enterprise via TEMS or Private] and send SNMP traps to event receivers for awareness and management control. There are two limitations compared to Enterprise situations.   Limitations - Logic that SNMP logic does NOT have, 1) Persist=N in Enterprise situations means to delay creating a situation event until it has occurred N times in a row. That can be highly useful for cases where a... [More]

Troubleshooting: WebSphere Applications Agent - Request data is inconsistent between the Performance Management console and Tivoli Enterprise Portal

    kbixler 060001X4BD | | Visits (2015)

Problem: In agent coexistence environment where one data collector collects and passes data to both WebSphere Applications agent (v8 agent) and the ITCAM Agent for WebSphere Applications (v6 agent), request data might be inconsistent between the Requests with Slowest Response Time widget in the Performance Management console and the Request Analysis workspace on Tivoli Enterprise Portal.   Cause: Request Aggregator can have only one client and it stores request data in buckets. Snapshots are taken by the two agents at different times.... [More]

Verifying your Thresholds have been distributed to your monitored Agents.

    NoelLewis 060001F069 | | Visits (2989)

If you've created few Thresholds in your APM 8.1.3 console and you're wondering if these Thresholds have been distributed to your Agent system, here are some steps that you can use to verify:   1. When you create your Threshold in the APM console using the Threshold Manager , the new Threshold that you created gets written into a private_situations.xml file on the APM server.  This is a regular xml file that contains all your Thresholds and is in the wlp servers directory (see screenshot below for the path.) In my example... [More]
